Faith in the God Who Provides

17 By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was in the act of offering up his only son, 18 of whom it was said, “Through Isaac shall your offspring be named.” 19 He considered that God was able even to raise him from the dead, from which, figuratively speaking, he did receive him back.

Faith in the God Who Provides
Abraham’s faith was tested in a way that seems impossible. God had promised that through Isaac, Abraham’s descendants would be as numerous as the stars. Yet now, God commanded him to sacrifice his son. How could the promise stand if Isaac were dead? Abraham trusted that God could even raise the dead, and in a sense, he did. Isaac was spared, and a ram took his place. This points us to Christ. The Father did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all. Unlike Isaac, Jesus was not replaced by a ram, He was the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Through His death and resurrection, we receive life. When our faith is tested, we look to the cross. God is faithful. He provides not just daily bread but also eternal salvation. In Christ, we trust the God who raises the dead.
