No Other King or Kingdom

Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter of Your kingdom is a scepter of uprightness.
PSALM 45:6

No Other King or Kingdom
This kingdom is eternal and spiritual. It is administered by a person who is at the same time God and man, mortal and immortal, one who has passed over from this life to another and rules for life against death, for righteousness against sin, for salvation against damnation. Just as none of these features can be applied to any other kingdom except in a weak shadow, so, too, there is no other king who lives forever; they live for a time, and others in turn succeed them. So this that follows, the staff or scepter of equity ["uprightness"], also applies only to the kingdom of Christ. . .. The scepter of this kingdom receives singular praise and commendation: it is straight, not curved or full of knots; that is, it dispenses injustice to no one but exercises justice in the most exact degree.
