God Will Surely Visit You
Joseph said to his brothers, "I am about to die, but God will visit you and bring you up out of this land to the land that he swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob." Then Joseph made the sons of Israel swear, saying, "God will surely visit you, and you shall carry up my bones from here."

God Will Surely Visit You
Here Joseph declares his faith when he desires to be among those who were to be raised with Christ. And I believe that he returned to life along with the other saints of whom mention is made in Matthew 27:52-53. Indeed, he wants to rest in the land of Canaan, even though the place and the burial are of little importance. For he could have been buried in Egypt, and it would not have been difficult for Christ to raise the fathers from Egypt or from anywhere else. But in order to bear witness to his faith in Christ he gives orders that his bones be borne down to the land of Canaan. For he also knew that the People of Israel were to be multiplied in the land promised to their fathers. Therefore he wants that tomb to be before the eyes of all his descendants, in order that his children and grandchildren may remember their father and their ancestors and, in accordance with their example, may persevere in the same faith and promise in which he had fallen asleep with his fathers.
