Life Amongst the Clouds

As the cloud fades and vanishes, so he who goes down to Sheol does not come up; he returns no more to his house, nor does his place know him anymore.
Job 7:9-10

Life Amongst the Clouds
For many death is the end. They believe one is born, lives, dies, and is buried and never seen again.  So they attempt to make this life and the pursuit of happiness and pleasure the utmost priority.  They aspire to ever loftier goals and status in this life, hoping to one day rise above it all and find a place amongst the elite, wealthy, and privileged. They want to live amongst the clouds so to speak, high above the common people.  And in his own way Job shows the foolishness of this approach to life.  For “the cloud fades and vanishes.”  In the end everyone must face judgement.  There is no second chance, no do over, no reincarnation.  There is only an eternity, either with or without God.  For this reason, you “set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth,” (Colossians 3:2).  Job is right that this life is fleeting, and all will eventually have a last day, yet with the time we do have God has blessed us with the gift of faith to share with all those He places in our lives.  Because in His death and resurrection, Christ has freed us from our bondage to sin, we can love God and love our neighbor. Your life now has meaning and purpose, which is found in Christ and shared with all.
