Heart and Sprit

Why does your heart carry you away, and why do your eyes flash, that you turn your spirit against God and bring such words out of your mouth?
Job 15:12-13

Heart and Sprit
Eliphaz is offended that Job would respond in anger against his advice.  He believes himself to be in the right and suggest that if Job would just amend his sinful life and repent all would be forgotten and his life would return to normal.  Job, in his defense, has had enough.  He knows that his suffering doesn’t come from a particular sin as his friends suggest and he is tired of them suggest such.  Job’s heart was carried away with emotion and his eyes flashed in anger, not against God, but against his friend’s cruel words.  True words of comfort have not been found coming from the lips of Job’s friends. Which is often the case when we seek comfort first from others.  When we turn to the creation and ignore the Creator, we are bond to find nothing but frustration and pain.  This is why God tells us to go to Him.  Jesus implores us, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30).   It is only in Christ where we find our hope, our comfort, our salvation.  It is only Christ who turns our spirit towards God and carries our hearts and soul to Him in forgiveness.
