Into the Dust
Will it go down to the bars of Sheol? Shall we descend together into the dust?

Into the Dust
Chapter 17 ends on a bleak note. Job after being a great witness to God and the faith he has been given, once again descends into the dust. He once again looks to his current visible conditions. He feels the physical and emotional pain and givens into his own human weakness. It is hard to fault Job for this type of reaction. I image there are few of us who could withstand all which Job did without questioning our relationship with our heavenly Father. But as look into the mirror and see the face reflected back at us, it is sometimes hard to recognize that person. Whether the ravages of time have taken their toll or simply the exhaustion of everyday life is draining you, we don’t always like the person staring back at us. Yet when we see our own frailty and weakness, we are reminded not to turn from God but to “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you” (James 4:8). God has given us all the hope we will ever need when He sent His Son to die for us. In that final sacrifice we have redemption. We have salvation. We have hope.
