To Look on the Light

And now no one looks on the light when it is bright in the skies, when the wind has passed and cleared them. Out of the north comes golden splendor; God is clothed with awesome majesty. The Almighty—we cannot find him; he is great in power; justice and abundant righteousness he will not violate. Therefore men fear him; he does not regard any who are wise in their own conceit.
Job 37:21–24

To Look on the Light

You cannot stare at the sun for very long until you begin to cause severe damage to your eyes.  It is simply too bright, and our eyes are too weak.  Yet the sun is essential for our survival.  We must have it to sustain life on our planet.  God in His glory and splendor cannot be looked upon by our sin weakened eyes. He is too holy, and we are too unholy.  Yet He is essential for our eternal soul. We must be with Him if we are to have salvation.  So we look to the Son, “who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation” (Colossians 1:15). And in Him, we find our Salvation. We find our warmth and live in His radiance.  Not because we are good enough, but because He has clothed us in His righteousness.  Our eyes will look upon God one day, and we will see Him in all His glory, and we will live! Because God will not see our sins but the perfect life of His Son Jesus Christ.  And until that day, we continue in His light. We walk in His ways. We look to the Light of the World; a light no darkness can overcome.
