Inheritance
And in all the land there were no women so beautiful as Job’s daughters. And their father gave them an inheritance among their brothers.

Inheritance
In Job’s time, the custom was that the father’s inheritance would be divided among his sons. Yet because of the richness of Job’s blessings from God Job even gave an inheritance to his daughters as well. How great a man was Job to show this kind of love! And in this way Job points us to our own heavenly Father and the inheritance He has for all of us. Normally the firstborn would receive the bulk of the inheritance, this is why when Jesus is called the “firstborn of all creation” it speaks to his eternal existence and rule over all creation (Colossians 1:15). And when Paul tells us, “for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith” we rejoice that we all share in the inheritance of our heavenly Father (Galatians 3:26). Because of the richness of blessings we have in Christ, that He would lay down His life for us, through the Holy Spirit given faith we all are sons of God and receive His inheritance of eternal life. Just as Job showed no partiality amongst his children, even more so does our Father in heaven (Galatians 3:28).
