VDMA

Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God; for “All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord remains forever.” And this word is the good news that was preached to you.
1 Peter 1:22–25

VDMA
Verbum Domini Manet in Aeternum. These Latin words are translated as The Word of the Lord remains forever. The initials VDMA were used by the early Lutherans in the struggles against those forces who would attempt to supplant the Word of the Lord with the word of man. VDMA is still a Lutheran symbol that reminds us that The Holy Spirit works faith through the proclamation of the Gospel, in both the Old and New Testaments, in the preaching of faithful pastors, and most importantly in His Son our Lord Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh. And as we go forth in the faith given through His Word, we are to turn away from all hatred and evil thoughts, and mature in our love and compassion towards our neighbor, having purified souls and pure hearts.
