Demonstrate Godliness
Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.

Demonstrate Godliness
Saint Peter calls us to respect our wives. He calls us to live with our wives in an understanding way. He calls us to work at our marriage and to listen, support, provide, and protect. We show honor to our wives as the precious gift that she is to each husband. In this way, husbands show forth the love that Christ first gave the Church by dying on the cross for her. We demonstrate godliness by our actions towards our closest neighbor. Of course, it is a mystery, this union between husband and wife, but like Saint Paul, Saint Peter is talking about the union of Christ Jesus to the Church, for your life and salvation. He shows forth his love for her (for you) by giving up all that he has to buy her with his own blood. He denies himself and thus gains a beautiful bride, without spot or blemish. Husbands, you are called to a life of sacrifice and love. Thanks be to God that he has sent Jesus to love us by dying for you and me.
