The Holy Kiss and the Peace of Christ
By Silvanus, a faithful brother as I regard him, I have written briefly to you, exhorting and declaring that this is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it. She who is at Babylon, who is likewise chosen, sends you greetings, and so does Mark, my son. Greet one another with the kiss of love. Peace to all of you who are in Christ.

The Holy Kiss and the Peace of Christ
God grants that we live together in Christian community. Peter writes in order to show forth in our midst the grace of God. It is your right and privilege to stand in that grace. Our sinful nature isn’t convinced that we need any help, but we certainly do. Our sinful nature isn’t comfortable standing in the grace of God. Peter knows that it is our only way. We stand on the foundation of Jesus’ Word. We clothe ourselves in the righteous armor of the God who has defeated the devil. We can know without a doubt that the Word of God as our sword and dagger is powerful and no enemy can stand against us when we stand in the grace and mercy of our God. Let us encourage one another to build on the foundation of the apostles and to stand firm in our faith on the grace of God. Together, in the grace of Christ, we have his peace.
