Love One Another

For this is the message that you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. We should not be like Cain, who was of the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own deeds were evil and his brother’s righteous. Do not be surprised, brothers, that the world hates you. We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. Whoever does not love abides in death. Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.

Love One Another
The command of God is to love your neighbor. The very essence of God is love. Jesus even bids you to be perfect like his Father who is perfect. Left to our own we do the opposite of love. Made in the image of Adam, we call it the Old Adam, we lie, cheat, and murder, like our brother Cain. The Old Adam is evil, like the father of evil, Satan. You, however, were not made to be evil. You were not made to kill. You were made to love and bear the burdens of your neighbors. You were made to deny yourself and pick up whatever your neighbor, your spouse, your enemy needs. You are therefore transformed to be like Christ. This love that Christ has for the world and the love that comes from you is the natural harvest from the growth God has given to you in faith. It’s a new life. We have passed from death into life and now we live with him.
