The Lord Sanctifies

Thus says the LORD: “For three transgressions of the Ammonites, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment, because they have ripped open pregnant women in Gilead, that they might enlarge their border. So I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour her strongholds, with shouting on the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind; and their king shall go into exile, he and his princes together,” says the LORD.
Amos 1:13–15

The Lord Sanctifies
The Lord sanctifies all life. It isn’t a matter of quality; instead, it is a matter of holiness. Quality of life can be subjective. The Ammonites and all our enemies count human worth by service, relationship, and power. God counts all human life equally worth saving and therefore makes it holy by his intervention. Out of all the things created by our God, not a single other creature has been elevated to the station of humanity. God becomes part of his creation by being born a man. The Son of Mary is the Lord of Heaven and Earth. His conception and birth make all human life holy and set apart by God.  The womb is where he knits together human life. Against the rage of men, God will not abandon his people. He sends forth his Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, to die on the cross that the lives knit together in the womb would be justified and clothed in the righteousness of Christ. In the midst of the battles of this life, God sustains his own. He establishes a King upon his everlasting throne that will sustain, nourish, forgive, and give life.
