The Truth
Thus says the LORD: “For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment, because they have rejected the law of the LORD, and have not kept his statutes, but their lies have led them astray, those after which their fathers walked. So I will send a fire upon Judah, and it shall devour the strongholds of Jerusalem.”
Amos 2:4–5

The Truth
The truth is all you have. The truth will set you free but lies will trap you in slavery forever. The world would have you justify your opinions as truth and build upon the changing opinions of men and the shifting sands of the times. Even Judah cannot be sustained in his lies. The Lord must tear down the falsehoods and lies and build instead the truth that saves. This truth is Jesus Christ, the offspring of Judah, the Son of David, the Savior of the World. Like a silversmith must kindle his fire to purify the silver, so also our God sends forth the fire of his Word to purify and make us new. This Word binds up and heals. This Word is the Savior born of Mary. This Word comes forth from the bosom of Judah to save Judah out of his lies and to give life to his people again. This Word is the truth of God. It is the absolute truth. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. When the world tempts us with its fickle lies, the Lord sustains us in his truth. Thanks be to God that we have the truth, and no one can take it away.
