The God of Peace

26 What then, brothers? When you come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for building up. 27 If any speak in a tongue, let there be only two or at most three, and each in turn, and let someone interpret. 28 But if there is no one to interpret, let each of them keep silent in church and speak to himself and to God. 29 Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others weigh what is said. 30 If a revelation is made to another sitting there, let the first be silent. 31 For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all be encouraged, 32 and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets. 33 For God is not a God of confusion but of peace.

The God of Peace
The fruit of the human sinful nature is nestled in the me, myself, and I. Where it is not thinking about itself, it is thinking about how to divide and tear down. The fruit of the Christian life, the work of the Spirit, is, instead, of unity and peace. The devil would spend his time telling the right kind of lie to make you doubt this unity, doubt the surety of God's work for you and for the Church, and doubt the very forgiveness that Jesus won on the cross for you. The devil sows doubt, but God is the God of truth and peace. Therefore, he sends his Spirit to you to call you again and again by the clear Word of the Gospel and to create faith in the Christ in your heart. The hymn, the lesson, the revelation, or whatever else must be the work of this Holy Spirit. How do you know if it is? The Word of God is part of it. The Church never does anything apart from the Word of God. That is the foundation, the guide post, the surety, and the peace. That Word endures forever and brings you the work of Jesus.
