Rich in Christ’s Poverty

8 I say this not as a command, but to prove by the earnestness of others that your love also is genuine. 9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.
2 Co 8:8–9

Rich in Christ’s Poverty
Christ’s love is not a matter of words alone, it is demonstrated in action. Paul reminds us of the grace of our Lord Jesus, who, though He was rich, became poor for our sake. He exchanged heavenly glory for the humility of human flesh, born in a manger, and ultimately bore the shame of the cross. Why? So that through His poverty, we might become rich. This richness is not worldly wealth, but the abundance of forgiveness, righteousness, and eternal life. At the cross, Christ bore our sins, giving us His perfect obedience in exchange. His self-giving love transforms our hearts, stirring us to reflect His generosity in how we serve others. As we examine our stewardship of God’s gifts, we do so in light of His ultimate gift. In Christ’s poverty, we find immeasurable treasure, a love that moves us to give freely for His glory.
