Encouraged to Excel in Grace

16 But thanks be to God, who put into the heart of Titus the same earnest care I have for you. 17 For he not only accepted our appeal, but being himself very earnest he is going to you of his own accord. 18 With him we are sending the brother who is famous among all the churches for his preaching of the gospel. 19 And not only that, but he has been appointed by the churches to travel with us as we carry out this act of grace that is being ministered by us, for the glory of the Lord himself and to show our good will.

Encouraged to Excel in Grace

God calls us to love through action, not mere words. As Paul exhorted the Corinthians, he pointed to the example of Christ, who in His boundless grace became poor for our sakes so that we might be made rich in Him. Just as the Macedonians excelled in the grace of giving, so too were the Corinthians encouraged to grow in this same grace. Paul entrusted this ministry to Titus and others, faithful brothers commended for their love and zeal. Their example reminds us that the Church thrives through the Spirit’s work in believers—giving, serving, and sharing Christ’s love. Christ’s cross is the ultimate act of giving. Through His sacrifice, we are reconciled to God, receiving the riches of His mercy. In gratitude, we excel in grace, serving others and stewarding His gifts for the glory of His name. Let us act with love, reflecting Christ's generosity.
