Great and Unsearchable Things

“As for me, I would seek God, and to God would I commit my cause, who does great things and unsearchable, marvelous things without number”

Great and Unsearchable Things
Often times when troubles come, we look first to ourselves to fix them.  We turn inward for the answers.  When that fails, we consult friends or those who have expertise.  It is only after all these remedies are exhausted, do we then turn to God.  We have been taught to be self-reliant, and that is not necessary a bad thing, yet when we become overconfident in our own abilities that we ignore the Source of all good things, the problems overwhelm us.  We have in God a creator who loves us to depths which are unfathomable.  He has created all good things and gives them to us daily, even to the wicked He does not withhold His bounty.  Our Lord has done such great and unsearchable things for His creation, that we should be constantly looking to Him in praise and adoration.  Yet in our sinfulness we too often ignore or reject His love.  And it is in the face of our sinfulness where our heavenly Father does the greatest and most unsearchable thing, He sends His Son to die for those who reject Him.  He sent His Son to pay the price we deserve for our sins.  He makes it possible, through His Holy Spirit, for us to know and believe that Christ is our Savior and that we are reconciled to Him.  He pours grace upon grace onto us, rejoicing when but one soul repents.  As St. Paul so beautifully tells us:
“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
(Romans 8:38-39)
