Give ear, O My people, to My teaching; incline your ears to the words of My mouth.
PSALM 78: 1

Listen, Learn, Live
The apostles have proclaimed these words and the Law throughout the world. And the psalmist opened his mouth in parables which are now known everywhere. "And hidden mysteries from the beginning" (Psalm 78:2) have been uttered everywhere, so that what follows might be true, "How great things we have heard and known, and our fathers (that is, the apostles and their successors) have told us" (v. 3) in writings and words. "And they have not been hidden from their children in another generation" (v. 4). No one can say that he does not know what Christ said and did for us. "Declaring the praises of the Lord and His powers (namely, as recorded in the Gospel) and His wonders, which He has done" in casting down the devil and in the victory over death through His suffering. "And He established a testimony in Jacob" (that is, the Gospel among His people) "and appointed a law in Israel, which He commanded our fathers to teach to their children (v. 5), that the next generation might know them, the children yet unborn, and rise up and tell them to their children" (v. 6). This the Lord did when He so urgently commanded the Gospel to be preached and that the talent be put out for interest, so that no one would have an excuse in His presence.
