No Sin Allowed

Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means!

No Sin Allowed
It is godless reasoning to say: "If our sin praises the mercy of God, then let us sin." For God does not want or permit this. Nor does He prescribe for you a rule according to which you may sin with impunity. He does not say that He does good for the sake of sin. It is one thing to do good for the sake of sin; it is another thing to give help and assistance on account of sin. God certainly detests and hates sin. Yet He sets forth the promise: "He who has fallen should not despair." He does not give orders to commit sin; He forbids it. But after sin has been committed and the Law accuses and terrifies the conscience so that sin becomes "sinful beyond measure," as Romans 7:13 says . . . then He does not want death to reign, as the prophet testifies: "I do not want the death of the sinner, but that he should be converted and live" (see Ezekiel 18:23).
