Pray for One Another
Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth. Then he prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit. My brothers, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone brings him back, let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.

Pray for One Another
We take for granted that God has forged us together as a Christian family. We take for granted the opportunity to gather as God’s people together in Word and Sacrament. We wrong each other and lose our tempers. We hold grudges and refuse to forgive. However, it is God who has blessed us with Christian community. It is God that has designed his church as the gathering of people around the Word preached and the Sacraments administered. He calls us out of the darkness of sin by preaching! That preaching grafts his people together as one Church. Baptism wraps us in the righteousness of Jesus. The Sacrament of the Altar forgives our sins and gives us life and salvation. God has made you righteous and he has placed you in his family. Your prayers have great power. So, we call upon the name of our God to be of assistance to our fellow believers. It is Jesus that covers you. It is Jesus’ death that has made you alive. It is Jesus that binds you together in the truth.
